Advisories NCA Language Screening Requirement: French screening tool available
As of March 1, 2026, all NCA applicants must complete a language screening test before their qualifications are assessed, or if they request a review of their NCA file after having completed additional legal studies to address the non recognition of their legal education. Only those who have already completed a valid language test accepted by the NCA and completed with the required scores within the last two years may be exempted from this requirement.
There now is a French Language screening tool available. More details are at Statement on Language Requirements.
Applicants may take one of either the English screening tool or the French screening tool. Each Applicant will have a single attempt to complete their language screening test. If you do not successfully meet the minimum language proficiency score on the screening test, you will be required to complete a full language assessment before a Certificate of Qualification may be issued to you.
